“Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself as having laid hold of it yet, but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Another School Shooting in America…

Please don’t read the title of this post and think I am making light of the incident which occurred in an elementary school today in Texas. It is horrific and difficult to fathom. As a father of one year old twins who will begin their educational journey in just four years, and also a father of a nineteen year old who luckily is out of school now, I can’t help but wonder what the public school system will look like when my twins step foot in a classroom. Do my wife and I homeschool? Private school? Can we really shelter them and keep them safe from the madness that seems to be ramping up again across America?

First of all, I don’t believe what we see happening is a gun control issue. I think a huge part of the problem begins with mental health, and fellow classmates, friends, and family members being afraid of being the bad guy (or woman). So we overlook some pretty blatant signs of someone going in the wrong direction. Rather than step up and speak up, we shut up.

Secondly, I don’t know why we haven’t begun budgeting for, and placing security guards in every single school campus across America. Sure it would be expensive, but think about the billions of dollars wasted on other projects that yield zero results. Don’t our children deserve to go to school and learn in a safe environment?

Lastly, isn’t it about time we allow Jesus to return to school? Hasn’t He been expelled long enough?
