“Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself as having laid hold of it yet, but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Comforting Others Without Mentioning God: A Christian’s Dilemma

I recently saw a post on one my social media feeds that basically asked people to learn how to comfort others without mentioning God. This really made me think and explore how I viewed this. Should Christians learn to comfort and encourage people who might find it offensive to mention God, and therefore stay clear of mentioning Him? Here’s my response.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer they foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and they coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 121

Let me ask you a question? If you follow Christ and believe what the Bible says to be true, and you have a friend, co-worker, acquaintance, or loved one who is struggling and does not know Christ, would you point them to the hope that you have found in and through Him? Why wouldn’t you want them to experience the same peace and joy that you have in Christ? Why wouldn’t you share that? Now granted, the individual who made the original post has photos of herself in Satanic symbols on her clothing and lives a lifestyle that rejects God, so it now wonder this post was made.

We could go throughout the entire Bible and find hundreds of verses that point to Jesus Christ as our only source of hope in this crazy and wicked world. I will leave that up to you. We have 150 Psalms that point to God as our hope. We have the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) that give so many accounts of people who didn’t know Christ, finding Him in order to be healed.

So again, why wouldn’t those of us with a Biblical worldview, share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who are desperately hurting? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Anyone who truly has been delivered through the life-changing faith in Jesus Christ would find this to be a no-brainer!

  1. I use experience of how The Holy Spirit walked with me through my many trials and tribulations.

This makes the Trinity more real to the hurting and opens them to accepting praying to Them
